Izzy is a screenwriter, comedian and BAFTA-winning producer of TV scripted comedy. She's worked for over a decade as a producer, script editor and story producer in TV comedy, including on acclaimed series such as Harry & Paul (BBC), Cuckoo (BBC/Netflix) and for Channel 4 - The Windsors, Gameface, Toast of London, and Peep Show. Previously she directed live comedy, theatre and radio plays, before rediscovering her own love of performing, as a stand up comedian. Her show, IZZY MANT: POLITE CLUB, was a sell-out success at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019. “Engaging, intelligent and unflinchingly honest” – The List. “Pure hilarity” – Ed Fest Mag.

Why I enjoyed the festival:

I'll never forget the thrill of arriving at the Brighton Dome once a year, my dances rehearsed, my parents laden with myriad sparkly costumes, the corridors thronging with excited young performers, and leaving happily exhausted a few hours later, my cheeks aching both from smiling and from the tightly scraped back hair. It was a hugely important part of my childhood and I still carry that spirit with me in my work and life today.

In my work making TV scripted comedy I've even had the opportunity to collaborate with my former dance teacher, Jacquie Brunjes, when she choreographed a very funny sand dance for us for the Channel 4 show Toast of London. Rehearsing that with Jacquie brought back memories of the festival too!
